I have had a motorcycle since I was a freshman in college, so for three years now. I have been drawn to motorcycling ever since I watched The Great Escape in Elementary School. It can be more than a hobby, sort of a life style. Especially for me when all I have is a motorbike, no car. It can mean a little extra freedom. But not without cost; you can’t carry much and the physical strain of a motorcycle is much different and much more intense than a car. Not to mention you are out in the elements. But nevertheless I love it. Love being beaten by the wind. There is a internal rebellion in everyone, it is only human and shouldn’t ever be ignored. I want to ride across the country one day. Spend time on the road headed to the horizon every day, through mountains, desert, grassland, facing nearly every element. Start from the east coast and end in California. Perhaps go through the north and return through the south. I would be able to see the whole country. I could get up in the morning to the sunrise; eat a new breakfast everyday in a different place every day. Meet new people, and all kinds of people. I’d have the road by day and perhaps a book by night. You can learn a lot about yourself in the saddle of a bike also. It can be a very peaceful time. It’s a time for self reflection, planning, and clarity. Motorcycling is always fun with someone else as well though. I fortunately have a few brothers and friends that ride and would definitely hope that they would join me. If you haven’t experienced this inner rebellion and freedom please do. A car just isn’t the same. Let the natural defiance flow from you on two wheels.
